So far after having resynced the personal information and reinstalling certain apps, my device is in fine working order!
I did consider checking to see if I could update the firmware via Nokia Software Updater, but I don't have access to a reliable PC right now. A friend of mine has a desktop PC, but it has been acting very strange with a number of problems of its own. The last thing I would want to do is subject myself to damaging the E71 in the middle of an update if the PC decided to suddenly crash. As a matter of fact, I seriously doubt that this PC is stable enough to even handle the downloading of the Nokia Software Updater package.
Nonetheless, I am definitely pleased to see that my phone has returned to normal.

Excellent blog.
But my Samsung i-780 is crap.
Come to Thailand sometime. You will love it. And maybe you can show me how to work my Samsung i-780.
That's great news that your Nokia e71 is fixed.
Will you install Quickoffice 5 or just take time out to calm nerves :)
To John,
I am thinking of reinstalling Quickoffice 5 since it was not the culprit in the E71 malfunction, but for now I am holding off.
You're quite right, I really want to enjoy this time of peace and harmony in the performance of my Nokia. :-)
To Mick,
Thanks for the invite to Thailand. I have always wanted to visit Asia, and it would be great to know someone who is a native.
I do feel your pain with the Samsung i780. As a matter of fact, I actually find fault with the Windows Mobile OS. It can be very powerful and quick when it wants to be, but I find it lacking in overall stability. Adding this to the potential factors from different handset manufacturers makes it even more complicated.
A good online resource happens to be howardforums.com. It's vast community of users that shares tips and troubleshooting ideas.
Good luck in operating your device.
Depending on how my life goes here in the US with school and finding a career, I may have to take you up on the Thailand invitation.
What made you go to Thailand?
